Savannah River Site Women in Nuclear
Since the inception of SRS-WIN in May 2015, board members and members have been using the relationships they’ve formed through the organization to develop leadership skills, network, and provide education outreach to the communities surrounding SRS. SRS-WIN is a local affiliate of U.S. WIN, an organization that supports women and men in nuclear professions in various nuclear-related fields.
The first WIN organization was formed by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) in 1999. NEI is responsible for the overall management, budget, membership, communication, and facilitation of the U.S. WIN organization. This includes day-to-day operations, conduct of Steering Committee and Leading Group meetings, as well as keeping the NEI Executive Committee and Nuclear Strategic Issues Advisory Committee informed of U.S. WIN programs and activities. NEI support includes appointment of a U.S. WIN Director, and an NEI Executive Sponsor.
U.S. WIN is an inclusive organization formed to support women and men who work in nuclear-related fields. The strategic objectives are to:
-
Support an environment in nuclear energy and nuclear technologies in which women and men are able to succeed.
-
Provide a network through which the women in these fields can further their professional development.
-
Provide an organized association through which the public is informed about nuclear energy and nuclear technologies.
SRS-WIN is a chapter of U.S. WIN and is a member of the U.S. WIN Region II area consisting of 10 states. SRS-WIN strategic objectives are the same as U.S. WIN. SRS-WIN is made up of employees and retirees from the following organizations at SRS:
