About the event
The 2023 CSRA Regional Science and Engineering Fair will be held Saturday, March 11, at the Student Activities Center, University of South Carolina Aiken. Over 300 local science fair winners are expected to participate in the Regional Fair. Volunteers are needed to judge projects from 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM. Some judges are needed to determine Best in Show for each division from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
Professionals and educators with a science or engineering degree are preferred, but not required. Most important is a sincere interest in encouraging students who have shown strong scientific interest and ability.
Judges will be organized into teams under the leadership of an experienced Head Judge. Judges will be separated into 4 categories:
- Elementary School Division (Grades 4th-5th)
- Middle School Division (Grades 6th-8th)
- High School Division (Grades 9th-12th) (Required to participate in interviews with high school competitors on Saturday, March 11)
- Special Awards Judge (Typically projects come from 6th-12th grade)
Please indicate your willingness to judge by registering before February 17 at this Judge Link - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SFJudge2023
More detailed information and instructions will be shared with volunteer judges prior to the fair. For more information on judging, contact Taylor Rice (taylor.rice@srs.gov) or Woodie Melton (woodie.melton@srnl.doe.gov).
